LIONS

LB Whitehead out

DETROIT -- The Lions have ruled out linebacker Tahir Whitehead against the New Orleans Saints. Whitehead will miss the game today at New Orleans because of a knee injury.

The Lions signed wide receiver TJ Jones from their practice squad, activated Armonty Bryant and released running back Justin Forsett and cornerback Johnthan Banks on Saturday. Jones may play against the Saints if wide receiver Marvin Jones is inactive because of a thigh injury that limited him in practice this week.

Bryant is back with the team after serving a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on substances of abuse. He signed with the Lions after being cut by the Cleveland Browns following a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

TEXANS

Clowney won't play

HOUSTON -- Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is out for game against the Green Bay Packers because of elbow and wrist injuries.

The Texans announced Saturday he'll be sidelined for the first time this season and won't travel with the team. Clowney has a career-high 12 tackles for losses.

Other Texans out against the Packers are running back Tyler Ervin (ribs), linebacker John Simon (chest) and wide receiver Jaelen Strong (ankle). Questionable players are running back Alfred Blue (calf), linebacker Brian Cushing (back) and safety Andre Hal (illness).

CHIEFS

WR Maclin out again

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will miss his fourth consecutive game today at Atlanta, while cornerback Phillip Gaines was added to the injury report as questionable with a knee injury.

Maclin had been questionable with a lingering groin injury on the final injury report Friday. The Chiefs also promoted defensive lineman T.J. Barnes from the practice squad Saturday, likely as insurance in case Dontari Poe or Kendall Reyes is unable to play. Poe is questionable with back spasms and Reyes has been dealing with a knee injury.

The Chiefs are coming off an overtime victory in Denver on Sunday. After playing the Falcons, they face a short week, with AFC West rival Oakland on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

JAGUARS

Greene on IR

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars have placed receiver Rashad Greene on injured reserve with an Achilles injury.

The Jaguars (2-9) promoted receiver Shane Wynn from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Wynn gives Jacksonville five healthy receivers heading into Sunday's home game against Denver (7-4). Allen Hurns (hamstring) already has been ruled out against the Broncos, leaving Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Arrelious Been, Bryan Walters and now Wynn to handle the position.

The 5-foot-6 Wynn originally signed with Atlanta as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015. He spent time with Cleveland, the New York Jets, San Diego and New Orleans last year before ending up in Jacksonville. He spent the first 12 weeks of the season on the Jaguars' practice squad.

JETS

McLendon, Pryor to sit

NEW YORK -- Jets starting defensive tackle Steve McLendon and safety Calvin Pryor will sit out against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night because of injuries.

Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was listed Saturday as questionable after not practicing because of a possible setback with his ailing ankle. Wilkerson has been dealing with soreness in the ankle all season, but appeared to be healthy early in the week while fully participating Thursday and Friday.

Practice was closed to the media, and Coach Todd Bowles did not have a post-practice news conference.

The Jets' defensive line would be a bit short-handed if both Wilkerson and McLendon, who has a hamstring injury, both sit out against the Colts. Deon Simon likely would replace McLendon, while Sheldon Richardson, Leonard Williams and Anthony Johnson are the only other healthy linemen.

The team also announced that rookie wide receiver Jalin Marshall will miss the game with a concussion. That could create an opportunity for Devin Smith to play for the first time since tearing a knee ligament in a game last December. He was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Nov. 9, but has been inactive the last two games.

Pryor is still recovering from a concussion, and Rontez Miles will take his spot in the starting lineup.
