PAPER TRAILS: 'Green' talk; 'The Price is Right Live!' in Little Rock; Tucker Carlson's new show

LOCAL CONNECTION: At least one of the seven panelists set to visit the Clinton School of Public Service for a forthcoming roundtable discussion on corporate sustainability has local roots. Marianna native Rodney Slater, former U.S. secretary of transportation, first became director of the Federal Highway Administration and was appointed secretary of transportation in 1997. He currently works as an attorney with the Washington, D.C.-based Patton Boggs LLP law firm and as a partner in former Federal Emergency Management Agency Director James Lee Witt's risk management firm.

To reserve seats for the Dec. 14 noon event, email publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or call (501) 683-5239. The event also may be watched via the school's website.

SHOW TIME: Tucker Carlson, who early in his career worked as an editorial writer for this newspaper, recently launched a new prime-time show on Fox News, Tucker Carlson Tonight, which airs at 6 p.m. weekdays. The show replaces a previous one hosted by Greta Van Susteren.

Carlson, a contributor to Fox News since 2009 and the founder and former editor of "The Daily Caller" online publication, previously co-hosted Fox News' morning show Fox and Friends Weekend, CNN's Crossfire and MSNBC's Tucker.

ARKANSAS, COME ON DOWN! The renovated performance hall of Robinson Center will host The Price is Right Live! at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 10. Tickets, ranging from $29 to $49, are currently on sale at both Ticketmaster.com and the box office.

The popular interactive stage show gives eligible individuals the chance to play classic games from the longest running and most popular game show. Contestants can win cash, appliances, vacations and possibly even a new car by playing favorites like Plinko, Cliff Hangers, The Big Wheel and the fabulous Showcase.

For more than a decade, the onstage traveling version of the show has given away more than $12 million in cash and prizes across the country.

Contestants must be legal U.S. residents and at least age 18. For complete rules and regulations, including eligibility requirements, visit or call the box office. All those wishing to watch the live game show must purchase tickets.

MAKING MUSIC: Remember a mention here last year about Monticello native Rob Shirakbari's then-girlfriend Rumer (Sarah Joyce), an Anglo-Pakistani-born British singer/songwriter, and the music the two were creating together? They haven't slowed down since marrying last year. The couple are busy with the release of Rumer's latest album, This Girl's in Love: A Bacharach & David Songbook. Fitting, since Rob worked for years as the keyboardist, arranger and musical director for Burt Bacharach and others, and also served as Dionne Warwick's musical director.
