ROBINSON FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Our House buffet, auctions wrap up $450,000 for shelter

White trees lighted with white lights gave a festive wintry feel to the Robinson Center Ballroom for the Dec. 2 Home for the Holidays, a benefit for Our House. Lighted houses nestled in cotton snow and arrangements of white roses and hydrangeas on guest tables completed the look.

The evening began with a silent auction and buffet dinner including sesame chicken with red chile glaze, coconut shrimp with horseradish orange sauce, roast tenderloin of beef on herbed garlic toast, sliced new potatoes with creme fraiche and caviar.

Honored for their support of the homeless shelter were Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, St. Mark Baptist Church, Marge and Tom Schueck and Jana and Chris Villemez. Courtney Jackson, mother of three, was presented with the Resilient Family of the Year award.

A live auction included trips to New York, California, Mexico and Colorado, a duck hunt and stay at Five Oaks Duck Lodge and a VIP Razorback Football Tour.

Dillard's was the presenting sponsor of Home for Holidays, and Tabietha and Bill Dillard were the event chairmen.

The event, with about 600 in attendance, raised $450,000 for Our House.
