Authorities on Wednesday charged a Stone County couple in the death of the woman’s 4-year-old girl in November.

Chief Deputy Dwayne Pierce, a spokesman for the Stone County sheriff’s office, said Victoria Dycus, 29, and James Glenn, 31, were both charged with first-degree murder and are each being held at the Stone County jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

Dycus and Glenn called 911 the night of Nov. 19, telling authorities that Dycus’ daughter, Skylar Shellstrom, wasn’t breathing. Emergency personnel brought Shellstrom to the Stone County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to a Nov. 30 news release from the sheriff’s office.

On Nov. 29, the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory notified state police that Shellstrom's death was a homicide. Pierce said on Wednesday that the medical examiner determined her death was caused by blunt-force trauma.

“Investigations like this test you,” Sheriff Lance Bonds wrote in a news release Wednesday. “We hope these arrests will help start the healing process in this tragic incident.”
