MIXING BUSINESS WITH FASHION

Members model latest styles for 20th Century Club lunch

Active members of the 20th Century Club of Little Rock, as well as prospective members, got a taste of fashion at a lunch meeting held Dec. 14 in the ballroom of Chenal Country Club.

During the short business meeting, Pam Morton, co-chairman of the club's 2017 Hope Ball, gave a progress report about the event. Scheduled for Feb. 25 in the Wally Allen Ballroom of the Statehouse Convention Center, the ball has already surpassed organizers' $217,500 goal for corporate sponsorships with $266,000 in commitments secured as of the day of the meeting.

Elizabeth Clogston, executive director of the club, shared recent statistics about the club's Hope Lodge, which provides no-cost housing to cancer patients receiving treatment in central Arkansas. In November, patient-stay nights numbered 400. Total patient nights from the lodge's April 17, 2011, opening to Dec. 12 number 31,275. Patients have come from 25 states, 383 cities and all 75 counties in Arkansas.

In addition, club president Kelly Thompson announced the organization's Hope Award winner, David Patel, and the Distinguished Service Award, which went to the late Christen Franke.

After the meeting, attendees were treated to a short showcase featuring formal wear (hints for Hope Ball attire) as well as cocktail and casual pieces by Proposals Boutique. The store's Betsy Kemp narrated the show, whose models were club members.
