A jury in Texas has reached a guilty verdict in the case of man charged with fatally stabbing a Harding University student in San Antonio on New Year's Eve 2013, court records show.

Christian Ivan Bautista is listed as awaiting sentencing on Bexar County court records, after the verdict was announced Tuesday.

The Bexar County district attorney's office said in a tweet that Bautista faces up to life in prison.

Police in San Antonio charged Bautista days after 24-year-old Lauren Bump was found stabbed to death in the city's O.P. Schnabel Park, where she had gone out running.

Bump was a physician's assistant graduate student at the Searcy university and was living in Fayetteville to conduct clinical work at the time of her death, The Associated Press previously reported.

Bump's parents lived in San Antonio at the time.
