Police arrested a man who walked into the Benton County Courthouse on Monday and said he raped a Springdale girl in 2012, according to a report released Tuesday by the Springdale Police Department.
Trumayne Titus Cuffie, 34, of 200 County Route 3400 in Lampasas, Texas, according to jail records, was arrested in connection with rape after he told police he inappropriately touched an underage girl several years ago. The incident happened one time, according to the report.
Cuffie listed a Pineville, Mo., address as his home when talking with Springdale police.
Cuffie told police Monday he wanted to confess because he lied about the incident to a detective in 2012. He said he felt guilty and wanted to "clear his conscience."
Cuffie has no known criminal history, according to the police report. He was taken to the Springdale city jail, then booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Tuesday. Bond hadn't yet been set.
