A Texas man was convicted in the fatal stabbing of a Harding University graduate student as she exercised at a San Antonio park on New Year's Eve 2013.

Christian Bautista, 31, of San Antonio was convicted Tuesday in the slaying of Lauren Bump, 24, a graduate student at the Searcy university who was living in Fayetteville at the time of her death while conducting clinical work in the pursuit of her physician-assistant degree.

Bautista faces up to life in prison.

Bump was jogging in O.P. Schnabel Park while visiting family members in San Antonio. Her body was discovered by some walkers on a paved trail.

Bump's relatives lived a few miles from the park.

Bautista did not testify, and his attorneys declined to present any witnesses.

Bump was scheduled to graduate in 2014. She held an undergraduate degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
