Harding student's killer gets life term

SAN ANTONIO -- A South Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing a Harding University graduate student as she jogged in a San Antonio park on New Year's Eve 2013.

A Bexar County jury sentenced Christian Bautista Antonio on Wednesday, one day after finding the 31-year-old San Antonio man guilty of killing Lauren Bump.

Bump, 24, was jogging while visiting her family in San Antonio when she was attacked in O.P. Schnabel Park. Her body was discovered by people walking on a paved trail.

Bump was scheduled to graduate in 2014 from a physician assistant program. She held an undergraduate degree from McMurry University in Abilene.
