Perryville district seeks new leader to replace retiring superintendent

PERRYVILLE — Twenty-nine people have applied for the Perryville School District superintendent position. The deadline for applications was Jan. 31, said Brian Hill, school board president.

Perryville Superintendent Ron Wilson will retire this year after a 40-year career, including 10 years in his current position.

Jeff Magie, principal of Perryville Elementary School, is one of the applicants.

Other applicants for the job, their current places of residence and last-known positions are as follows:

• Suzette Anderson of Pine Bluff, assistant elementary principal in the Pine Bluff School District;

• Randal Betts of Conway, Cedarville High School principal from 2013 to October 2015;

• Amanda Britt of Gassville, Cotter High School principal;

• Jack Broach of Rison, school-improvement specialist for the Augusta School District;

• Bruce Bryant of Searcy, associate professor at Harding University;

• Netlla Cureton of Cove, director of instruction/curriculum for the Cossatot River School District and adjunct faculty at Southern Arkansas University;

• Andrew Curry of Hot Springs Village, program officer with the U.S. Department of Education;

• Curtis Curry of Wister, Oklahoma, superintendent of the Proum School District;

• Walt Davis of Hector, superintendent of the Hector School District;

• Johnny Embry of Camden, director of maintenance, transportation, and career and technical education for the Camden Fairview Public Schools;

• Jon Estes of Palestine, superintendent of the Palestine-Wheatley School District;

• Chris Eubanks of Corning, principal of Corning High School;

• Wayne Fawcett of Paris, superintendent of the Paris School District;

• Rick Gales of Fayetteville, assistant superintendent for the Greenland School District;

• Thomas Graves of Abingdon, Virginia, educational consulting;

• Chad Harp of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, principal and federal programs director for the Grand View School;

• Jeremy Mangrum of Paragould, principal of Paragould High School;

• Richard McClements of Goodyear, Arizona, retired;

• Pike Palmer of Hot Springs, principal of Cutter Morning Star High School;

• Melissa Parks of Harrison, federal programs/professional development/human resources at the Jasper School District;

• Darrell Porter of Camden, a teacher at Hall High School in the Little Rock School District;

• Gary Rhinehart of Scranton, principal of Scranton Elementary School;

• Jacob Sherwood of Springdale, principal at John Tyson Elementary School in the Springdale School District;

• Albert Snow of Fordyce, superintendent of the Fordyce School District;

• Rick Waters of Texarkana, superintendent of the Genoa Central School District;

• David Westenhover of Heber Springs, a principal in the Jasper School District;

• John Wilson of Hot Springs, last position was 2009-2015 as superintendent of the Barton-Lexa School District; and

• James Young of McNeil, retired — his last position was director of the Secondary Technical Center at South Arkansas Community College.
