State road crashes fatal to 3, injure 2

An Alicia man died Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. 67 in Lawrence County, Arkansas State Police said.

Brian Tat Pieri, 51, was driving north in a 1998 Chevrolet when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2016 Freightliner, state police said.

Pieri died in the crash, which occurred at 5:44 a.m. about a quarter-mile south of Hoxie, state police said.

The driver of the Freightliner, Armel Behrem, 37, of St. Louis was injured and taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge, state police reported.

On Tuesday, state police reported that an Ash Flat man died Saturday in a motorcycle crash in Sharp County.

Steven M. Recollet, 48, was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson east on Cherokee Road when the motorcycle lost traction and Recollet overcorrected, state police said. The motorcycle flipped over.

The crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. in Cherokee Village, according to state police.

A passenger on the motorcycle, Suzanne R. Stone, 46, of Bentonville was injured and taken to the White River Medical Center Medical Complex in Cherokee Village, state police reported.

Conditions were clear and the roads were dry at the time of both crashes, state police said.

On Jan. 26, state police reported that a youth died after a one-vehicle crash in Lawrence County that occurred Dec. 26.

State police said the youth was driving a Chevrolet S-10 west on Arkansas 115 in Imboden when the youth lost control of the truck and it left the roadway and struck a tree on the driver's side.

The youth was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. The report didn't specify when the youth died.

The wreck occurred at 8:26 p.m. Dec. 26, according to state police.

Conditions were cloudy, and the road was wet at the time of the crash, state police reported.
