Conway man killed by vehicle on Highway 65

A pedestrian was killed just before midnight Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 65 near Conway, Arkansas State Police said Sunday.

A 2013 Nissan Rogue was driving north when Jonathan Witt, 29, of Conway entered the roadway, according to a police report. The driver tried to swerve but was unable to avoid hitting Witt with the front of the vehicle. Faulkner County Coroner, Patrick Moore, pronounced him dead at the scene.

Weather conditions were described as dry and clear at the time of the accident, according to the report.

Witt's death was the 36th on an Arkansas roadway this year, according to preliminary numbers.
