8:30 P.M. UPDATE

A Monday night house fire seriously injured two people, according to the Little Rock Fire Department.

Agency spokesman Capt. Jason Weaver said firefighters responded to the 2700 block of Fair Park Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, and the rear of the home was on fire.

Firemen pulled the two people from the home, and they were rushed to separate area hospitals, Weaver said. Their names weren't released.

Windy, dry conditions led to copious wildfires across the state on Monday, and eight counties issued burn bans.

The cause of the fire on Fair Park Boulevard hadn't been determined, but Weaver said wind was only a problem at the beginning of the fire. It weakened as the firefight progressed, he added.

A portion of Fair Park Boulevard just east of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was blocked by firetrucks for a time.

Weaver said the home would not be a total loss.
