LITTLE ROCK — A Washington-based group has started television ads portraying Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Courtney Goodson as being beholden to trial lawyers and criticizing the chief justice hopeful over gifts and campaign contributions she's received.

The Judicial Crisis Network began the ads Monday and has spent more than $336,000 to air the 30-second spots over the next month in the northwest Arkansas and Little Rock areas. Goodson is running against Circuit Judge Dan Kemp in the March 1 election.

Goodson slammed the ads, calling them a coordinated effort by her rival and his allies to target her. Kemp's campaign said it's never met with anyone from JCN and that it's focused on its own campaign.
