SPRINGDALE -- There's a new leader in the 7A-West Conference, at least temporarily.

Kierra Lang scored 17 points to lead Springdale to a 50-41 victory over Springdale Har-Ber Monday at Wildcat Arena. The game was played Monday to avoid a conflict with a school board meeting tonight at Springdale.

Lang and Chasidee Owens made the key plays down the stretch after Macie Mains put Har-Ber ahead 36-35 with two free throws. Owens hit from just with the arc then followed with one of two free throws. Lang then gave Springdale a 41-36 lead with a 3-pointer from the wing. Har-Ber missed several short shots and Springdale put the game away with two free throws each from Lang and Desiree Mack.

Owens finished with nine points for Springdale, which plays at Fayetteville on Friday. Springdale coach Heather Hunsucker said she expects her team to handle the pressure well following the Lady Bulldogs' 10th win in their last 11 games.

"We have a real simple saying 'A head full of fear leaves no room for dreams,'" Hunsucker said. "Our dreams are still on the table. We're not fearful of who we play. We're thinking of our dream."

Springdale completed a sweep over its rival and put a damper on a night where Har-Ber coach Sandy Wright was honored for her 500th career victory at the outset of the season. Har-Ber (14-9, 4-5) battled back from a 9-0 deficit to take a 34-30 lead in the third quarter. But Springdale outscored Har-Ber 17-7 in the fourth quarter to complete the road victory.

"We battled back and made a game of it, the same thing we did at their place," Wright said. "In the fourth quarter we just came up short on some shots."

Macie Mains made three 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead Har-Ber, which will host Bentonville on Friday. Jacie Higgins scored all eight of her points in the third quarter after being held scoreless in the first half.

Springdale finished 11 of 15 from the foul-line while Har-Ber was 5 of 8.
