Lonoke County deputy involved in fatal shooting identified

The Lonoke County deputy who killed a man while responding to a domestic disturbance Sunday has been identified as Robert Ruble, the Lonoke County sheriff said Tuesday.

Ruble has worked at the sheriff's office for about two years and has never been subject to disciplinary action, Sheriff John Staley said.

"He's been a good officer, and it's tragic that this incident occurred," he said.

Phillip Luchsinger, 36, of 191 Angel Drive in Austin, was shot and killed after confronting deputies while armed, according to a news release from the Lonoke County sheriff's office.

Ruble was placed on administrative leave with pay after the shooting.
