Call it a winning streak for Bears

Central Arkansas routed Southeastern Louisiana 88-72 on Tuesday night at the Farris Center in Conway to give the Bears back-to-back victories for the first time since 2013-2014 season.

The Bears (5-15, 4-6 Southland Conference), coming off a 112-77 victory over New Orleans on Saturday, were led by sophomore guard Jordan Howard's 24 points. Howard has scored at least 20 points in each of his past four games. He had 36 points against New Orleans and 37 against Northwestern (La.) State on Feb. 2.

Five players, including Howard, scored at least 10 points for the Bears. Junior guard Derreck Brooks finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Mathieu Kimba had 15 points and nine rebounds. Senior forward Justin Foreman scored 11 points while senior forward Jake Zuilhof added 10 points and 7 rebounds.

UCA, which never trailed, shot 52.1 percent (25 of 48) from the floor, made 7 of 17 from three-point range and outrebounded Southeastern Louisiana 37-33.

The Bears led 42-36 at halftime. They extended their lead to 55-45 with 13:01 to play on Howard's three-pointer. It was 74-53 with 5:40 left after Zuilhof's dunk and two free throws by Howard after a Southeastern Louisiana technical foul.

UCA scored 23 points off 15 Southeastern Louisiana turnovers. The Bears held the Lions to 40.3 percent shooting (25 of 62).

Redshirt freshman guard Dimi Cook led the Lions (5-18, 3-7) with 15 points. Freshman forward Moses Greenwood scored 12 points and senior guard JaMichael Hawkins had 11 points.
