Charging Wildcats roll after slow start

Senior forward Adrian Moore scored 22 points, and North Little Rock shrugged off a sluggish start on its way to a 71-53 victory over Mountain Home in a 7A/6A-East game at the North Little Rock arena.

Mountain Home (5-18, 1-8) led 13-8 late in the first quarter, getting a surge from 5-8 freshman guard Luke Jackson, who scored all 18 of his points in the first three quarters, all on three-pointers.

"He hit two or three and then he hit one from the volleyball line (35 feet)," North Little Rock Coach Johnny Rice said. "The kids were looking at me and I was like 'yeah, you've got to get him everywhere.' "

North Little Rock (11-10, 5-4) trailed 15-13 to start the second quarter, but led 35-27 by halftime. In the third quarter, North Little Rock went up as many as 19 before Mountain Home closed back to within 55-42 to start the fourth quarter.

"We started out slow, but we did what we had to do," Rice said. "There were a lot of things we could have done better."

Senior guard Morris Talbert added 16 points for North Little Rock. Senior guard Chase Ohler scored 10 points for Mountain Home.
