Arkansas Tech women No. 15 in Division II poll

The Arkansas Tech women are No. 15 in this week's USA Today Sports Division II top 25 poll.

The Golden Suns (17-2, 15-0 Great American Conference) earned two victories last week against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene.

Arkansas Tech hosts Ouachita Baptist on Thursday in Russellville.

Arkansas Baptist moves up in NJCAA poll

Arkansas Baptist College moved up three spots to No. 15 in this week's NJCAA Division I men's top 25 poll.

The poll was released Tuesday by the NJCAA office.

The Buffaloes (22-3) received 148 points in the poll. Trinity Valley (Texas), which is 24-1, remained at No. 1, followed by Georgia Highlands (23-1), North Idaho (26-0), Indian Hills (Iowa) (25-2) and Harcum (Pa.) (22-2).

In the NJCAA Division II men's top 20 poll, North Arkansas (19-4) is ranked No. 16.

FOOTBALL

Lyon promotes assistant to DC

Lyon College Coach Kirk Kelley promoted defensive backs coach Del Howard to defensive coordinator Tuesday.

Howard has been at Lyon since August. He played cornerback and safety at Missouri in 2006-2009.

Before arriving at Lyon, Howard coached at OD Prep in Oklahoma and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He was also a defensive graduate assistant for Memphis and Missouri.
