Police: Man lights fire in abandoned Rogers house, causes minor damage

A fire set in an empty house on West Pleasant Grove Road caused minor damage Thursday morning, according to a Facebook post by the Rogers Police Department.

Smoke coming from an abandoned house was reported at about 7:50 a.m. Thursday. Fire records indicate an address of 3000 West Pleasant Grove Road. Police records put the call in the 2800 block of West Pleasant Grove Road.

Police identified the man inside as Saul Velazquez-Zarbia, 29 of Kansas City, Kan., and said he had lit a small fire inside the house on a stone floor. Firefighters put out a small fire in the building, according to police.

There was minor damage to the building, according to police.

Velazquez-Zarbia had not been charged with anything as of Thursday morning.
