A 30-year-old man is sought after he shot and injured the driver of a vehicle he was in and fled on foot, according to the Faulkner County sheriff's office.

The 34-year-old driver, Ronald Branscum, told Arkansas State Police during a traffic stop about 8:10 a.m. Friday that he was on his way to the hospital after being shot by passenger Randall Chandler earlier in the day, according to a news release.

Branscum told the sheriff's office that he was sitting in the vehicle at 11 Grassy Lake Road in Mayflower when Chandler pointed a .45-caliber pistol to his hip and shot him before fleeing the scene.

Branscum's injuries were not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said. He was transported by MEMS to Conway Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Chandler could be armed and traveling in a white pickup in the Mayflower area, family members told authorities.

Additional information regarding the ages of Branscum and Chandler was not immediately available Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding Chandler's whereabouts is asked to call the Faulkner County sheriff's office at (501) 450-4914 or the Mayflower Police Department at (501) 470-1000.
