Arkansas adds 2 to road-death toll

A man died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday in Polk County, the Arkansas State Police reported Friday.

Carl Dariel Baker, 79, of Mena was driving a 2003 Toyota west on Arkansas 8 near mile marker 13 when the vehicle exited the road about 5:46 p.m, according to state police. The vehicle traveled into a ditch, struck an embankment and landed on its side.

Baker was taken to Mena Regional Health System, where he died from his injuries.

State police also reported this week that a two-vehicle crash in Lonoke County killed a man Feb. 3.

Eric Doyle, 47, of Lonoke was driving a 2002 Honda north on U.S. 165 south of Keo when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming 2004 Chevrolet about 11:20 a.m., according to state police.

Doyle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver, Michael Cason, 60, of Stuttgart, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock for treatment.
