5A-WEST BOYS

Jenkins' 3-pointer at buzzer beats LR Christian

After an errant three-point attempt in the first half, the student section at Little Rock Christian serenaded Harrison's Nathan Jenkins with an "air ball" chant.

Jenkins waited to the last second for his response.

Jenkins hit a three-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining to cap a frenzied rally, which allowed the Goblins to take a 62-59 road victory. The shot vaulted Harrison into a first-place tie atop the 5A-West Conference standings.

"It was big time," Jenkins said. "We had faith in each other that we could come back. We pulled it out. Their student section is awesome. The atmosphere is great. It was fun."

The victory means Harrison (17-6, 8-2) will host Morrilton on Tuesday with sole possession of first place on the line. Little Rock Christian fell a game behind the pace.

The Warriors (14-8, 7-3) led nearly wire to wire and enjoyed a 51-38 lead with just under seven minutes to play.

But Harrison stormed back, starting with Jackson Marseilles' three-pointer at the 6:33 mark to draw within 10. It was the first of six three-pointers by the Goblins in the final 11 possessions, culminating in Jenkins' game-winner.

Marseilles, who finished with 19 points, had five of the Goblins' nine second-half three-pointers. His final long ball gave Harrison its first lead since the opening minute at 59-57 with 1:01 to play.

Little Rock Christian's Isaiah Harper followed with two free throws to tie the game at 59-59 with 21.1 seconds left, setting up the final play.

Harrison, which shot 66.7 percent in a 44-point second half, worked the clock for a final shot. Jenkins flashed to the top of the key, took a pass from Trevor Atwell and unfurled a high-arching jumper for the victory.

Little Rock Christian led 12-9 after a quarter, 27-16 at halftime and 47-34 entering the final quarter.

The Warriors scored just five points over the last 5:56 and had three turnovers.

Tanner Curry scored 12 points for Harrison, and Jenkins had nine on 3 three-pointers. Harper, who had just two points and didn't take a shot in the final six minutes, finished with 22 points for the Warriors.
