Sheriff: 2 people found fatally shot in home east of Ashdown

ASHDOWN — The Little River County sheriff says two people are dead after a man apparently shot his wife and then himself in a home three miles east of Ashdown.

Sheriff Gary Gregory said authorities responded to a call around noon Tuesday from a man who said that two bodies would be found in the residence. Authorities say they found the man, 75-year-old James Judd, on a bed and that he had apparently shot himself. His wife, 73-year-old Barbara Judd, was found sitting in a chair with a shotgun wound to the head.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that Gregory has requested an investigation by the Arkansas State Police. The bodies have been transported to the Arkansas Crime Lab in Little Rock for autopsies to determine cause of death.
