Controversy of the week

In the run-up to Nevada's vote in the GOP presidential caucuses, the big story was whether candidates could pronounce the word correctly. Whether Nevada was Nev-ah-duh or Nev-add-duh. Or some variation thereof. Of course, the leading candidate out there supposed pronounced it wrong several times lately, but that hasn't hurt him. If he can insult the disabled, fight with journalists, make fun of war heroes and take on the pope, mispronouncing the name of a state doesn't seem all that bad.

The thing is, however, everybody is pronouncing the name incorrectly. Even the people who live in Nevada.

It's pronounced Nuh-VAY-da.

As everybody in South Arkansas knows, that's where Prescott is.
