Mary Maestri’s, the 93-year-old Italian restaurant in Springdale, will close Saturday, the restaurant’s owner announced Thursday in social media posts.

The closure is related to the expiration of the restaurant’s current lease. A message left at the restaurant for owner Daniel Maestri was not immediately returned.

“Our lease is ending and we will not renew. Our last day to be open in Springdale is the Saturday February 27, 2016. Future plans will be announced in the near future,” read a message on the restaurant’s Facebook page and a Twitter account bearing Daniel Maestri’s name.

Mary Maestri’s has operated off and on in Northwest Arkansas since 1923 and was originally opened in Tontitown. It closed in 2010 because of tax problems and reopened in Springdale in 2012.
