North Little Rock driver facing gun, drug counts

A 31-year-old North Little Rock man was arrested early Thursday after police found drugs, a loaded handgun and a digital scale in his black Cadillac Escalade, an arrest report said.

A North Little Rock police officer on patrol spotted the Escalade stopped in the middle of the Lakeview Road and Avondale Road intersection, the report said. The officer followed the SUV and pulled it over for multiple traffic violations.

The driver, Darryl White, told the officer that he had a suspended driver's license, possible warrants out for his arrest, was on probation, that he had marijuana and that it was possible a handgun was in the vehicle, the report said.

The officer searched White and found marijuana, the report said. The officer searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat, a backpack in the front passenger seat that contained plastic bags with a white powdery substance inside, pills, a digital scale and clear plastic bags, the report said.

White was arrested at 12:57 a.m. and booked into the Pulaski County jail on charges of possession of a Schedule VI substance with the purpose to deliver, possession of cocaine with the purpose to deliver, possession of a Schedule I drug with the purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and possession of firearms by certain persons.

White was still listed on the jail roster Thursday night.
