Elite RB Whaley commits to Hogs

Arkansas has landed the commitment of highly recruited running back target Devwah Whaley. He announced his decision during pre-game of the Under Armour All American game in Orlando.

Whaley, 6-0, 209 pounds, 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Beaumont (Texas) Central, chose the Hogs over more than 20 other scholarship offers, including Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama and others.

As a senior, he rushed for 1,701 yards and 23 touchdowns on 228 carries. He had 172 carries for 1,225 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.

Whaley, who has a best electronic time of 10.60 seconds in the 100 meters and a best of 47 feet 11 inches in the triple jump, is No. 3 running back and No. 49 overall prospect in the nation, according to ESPN.

He becomes the 17th member of the Hogs' 2016 class.

He committed to Coach Bret Bielema, running backs coach Jemal Singleton and defensive backs coach Clay Jennings during the Dec. 13 in-home visit.
