Police identify 2 shot inside Little Rock house

Two people shot in a Monday afternoon home invasion were identified by police Tuesday.

At 5:06 p.m. Monday Little Rock police were called to 2804 Wolfe St., a few blocks east of the Arkansas State Fairgrounds off West Roosevelt Road, and found several people yelling and screaming outside of the house.

Damion Dennis, 23, who lives at the home on Wolfe Street, was on the ground with a gunshot wound on a leg. He told police that John Roberts, 37, of Little Rock, had entered the home and pointed a shotgun at 46-year-old Sandra Norton, who lives in the house. He said Norton grabbed the shotgun, and the two struggled until Dennis ran into the room and began to wrestle Roberts. At some point during the struggle, Roberts shot Dennis in the leg, the report said.

Dennis then "returned fire with an unknown weapon striking Mr. Roberts several times," the report said.

Roberts fled nearby to 2724 Wolfe St., which the report lists as his home address. Officers found him there suffering from gunshot wounds on the chest and a leg. Roberts told police that "Red and them" shot him.

Roberts was taken to UAMS Medical Center and Dennis was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock. Both had non-life-threatening injuries.

Roberts was charged with aggravated assault.

A witness, Demarcus Thrower, 19, was also arrested on a failure to appear charge. He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Tuesday night.
