Arkansas State hires new offensive coordinator

Arkansas State on Wednesday named Middle Tennessee's Buster Faulkner as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Faulkner has held both of those positions with the Blue Raiders for the past four years.

Faulkner succeeds Walt Bell, who was hired as Maryland's offensive coordinator. Word of Bell's departure surfaced a short time before ASU played in the New Orleans Bowl, which the Red Wolves lost 47-28 to Louisiana Tech.

Faulkner is a native of Lilburn, Ga., who played quarterback at Valdosta State and Texas A&M-Commerce, according to information on the Middle Tennessee website. His previous coaching experience includes a stint as quarterbacks coach for UCA in 2009.
