Some portions of the state may get wintry weather Sunday night, but little or no accumulation is expected, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in North Little Rock said Friday.

Precipitation will likely start around 5 or 6 p.m. Sunday and taper off before morning, meteorologist Dan Koch said.

Less than an inch of snow is expected in the north, and much of the precipitation in the south and central regions will be rain, he said. However, colder temperatures in the west could produce sleet that causes slick roadways, he said.

A cold front moving across the state will cause temperatures to drop after reaching the upper 60s in the some parts of the state Friday. Weekend highs will hover in the mid-to-low 40s before plummeting into the 20s overnight, Koch said.
