A westbound portion of Interstate 30 remains closed as crews continue to work an accident involving 18-wheelers, according to Arkansas State Police.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler said the accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 110 in the Benton area. Crews remained on scene about 5:58 p.m. to clear the 18-wheelers, he said.

Westbound traffic has been diverted to U.S. 67 at mile marker 114 southwest of Benton throughout the afternoon, Sadler said.

As of about 5:55 p.m., travel remained stopped in the area, extending as far back as Alexander, according to ArkansasOnline's traffic map.

Additional information regarding the number of people involved, as well as any injuries, was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
