Siblings arrested in fight, drug case

Jacksonville police arrested a brother and sister involved in a street fight that led to gunfire Wednesday, according to an arrest report.

Officers were called at 4:22 p.m. to 209 Vine St., where the occupants of two vehicles had stopped to fight, the report says. At one point during the altercation, a man purportedly pulled a revolver and shot into one of the vehicles. Police said that's when "everyone scattered," and the brawl ended.

Circumstances of the fight were unclear.

Investigators developed Demasio Smith, 18, and his sister, Presiline Campbell, 21, as suspects. Police searched the siblings' residence at 1201 Arkansas 161 later Wednesday. They reported finding a .22-caliber revolver with a defaced serial number and two spent rounds.

According to an arrest report, police also found small plastic bags of marijuana, digital scales and $1,345 cash in the home.

Smith was charged with committing a terroristic act, possession of a defaced firearm, carrying certain prohibited weapons and first-degree criminal mischief.

Campbell was charged with maintaining a drug premises near a drug-free zone, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The siblings were being held in the Pulaski County jail Thursday.
