Braden Alexander Newman, 18, and Thomas Allen Zapata Jr., 20, were charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping.

A third man, Jesse Vanpelt, 24, already had been arrested in the case. He faces the same charges.

Blake Shadwick of Sherwood said the three showed up at his home in the early hours of Jan. 21 and said they would drive him to the store for cigarettes, according to a police report. The men, whom he'd known for "many years," instead shocked him with a Taser, beat him, held him at gunpoint and threatened to kill him, the report states.

Shadwick, 19, said the men took his cash and clothes, drove to a trailer park in Little Rock and dropped him off. Police said Shadwick was found with cuts, bruises and burns on his body. He was treated at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

Shadwick told investigators Newman's home recently had been burglarized, and Newman may have thought he was involved, according to the report.

Police arrested Vanpelt later that day.

Newman and Zapata were arrested about 3:28 p.m. Tuesday after police searched their home at 2209 Sasser Court in North Little Rock. Officers reported finding a loaded AR-15 rifle along with 1.5 ounces of marijuana, prescriptions pills, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Police said a pair of sneakers stolen from Shadwick also was in the home.

In addition to the robbery counts, Newman and Zapata face multiple felony drug charges.

A roommate, Nicholas Allen Filbert, 20, was charged with felony drug offenses, as well.

All four were being held in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday.
