Arkansas has one commitment from an Arizona Western College prospect in highly touted tight end Jeremy Patton and is working on getting another one.

Patton’s teammate and cornerback Keisean Nixon narrowed his approximately 13 scholarship offers down to six and the Razorbacks made the cut. Oregon State, California, Iowa State, San Diego State and Colorado State round out the list.

Nixon, 6-0, 197 pounds said Patton gave Arkansas glowing reviews.

“My boy Jeremy said it’s great, so I can’t wait to take a visit,” Nixon said. “He said when I take my visit, I’m going to want to commit and I believe him. I can’t wait. Arkansas is probably one of my top two schools.”

He recorded 36 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, 5 interceptions, 4 pass breakups and 4 blocked kicks as a freshman. He also returned 9 kickoffs for 231 yards and 8 punt returns for 74 yards.

Patton spoke highly of the Arkansas coaching staff.

“How the coaches keep it real with you and he said the atmosphere was great,” said Nixon, who attended Los Angles Bishop Mora Salesian before junior college. “I haven’t really been down South, so that’s going to be big for me.”

Nixon, who communicates with Coach Bret Bielema and defensive backs coach Paul Rhoads, likes having the chance to play in the SEC.

“I want to play in the SEC,” he said.

JUCO Football Frenzy rates Nixon the No. 1 cornerback and No. 7 overall prospect in the nation. Nixon and Bielema talk often.

“I would love to play for him,” Nixon said.

Nixon plans to graduate in December and enroll at his new school in January. He likes the idea of attending Arkansas with Patton.

“I already know he’s going to be in my ear,” Nixon said. “I think if I play with Jeremy that would be big. Simply because we’re both like top players in our class and at our positions.”
