Pangburn All School Reunion

PANGBURN— The annual Pangburn All School Reunion will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the school’s Performing Arts Center. This year’s host is the class of 1966, which will celebrate its 50-year reunion. Homemade Lemonade Demonstration

POCAHONTAS — Join park interpreter Geoffrey from 1-2 p.m. at Davidsonville Historic State Park to learn how people 200 years ago beat the heat without the luxuries of today. Learn all about the art of homemade lemonade making and how drinks were kept cool in Davidsonville’s time. Have a glass of ice-cold lemonade; then explore the visitor center and other park exhibits. Arkansas Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial

BEEBE — The Arkansas Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial will be on display through Friday at First Baptist Church of Beebe, 101 U.S. 64. The memorial was founded by Rob Hopper of Wynne as a tribute to his son, who died Jan. 26, 2005, in western Iraq after his helicopter crashed. The memorial is also a tribute to all Arkansas natives who have fallen in the line of duty. Displaying the memorial is one of several ways the Arkansas Run for the Fallen organization honors heroes. Celebrate America

BATESVILLE — Celebrate America will take place in Riverside Park. Events will begin at 6 p.m. with KWOZ FM 103.3’s live remote in the park, hosted by Chad Whiteaker. The celebration will include a Treasure Island Gymnastics and Martial Arts demonstration at 6:45, a patriotic salute and live entertainment at 7, a performance by the North Arkansas Dance Theatre at 7:50, and more live entertainment at 8. The evening will conclude with the Fireworks Extravaganza at 9:15.

Holiday Closing

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Community Education Center will be closed the week of July 4 so the instructors and director may spend time with their families for the holiday. Fourth of July Activities

PANGBURN — A professional fireworks show at dark will cap off daylong Fourth of July activities in Pangburn. Events will begin with a political reception at 9 a.m. at City Hall, followed by the Pangburn Auto Parts 400 Toilet Race at 9:45 a.m., the downtown parade at 10 a.m., and opening ceremonies at City Park at 11 a.m., with guest speakers and parade awards. Entertainment will kick off at noon with the New Dixie Swing Band, followed by the Horseshoe-Pitching Contest at 1 p.m., The Hannahs at 4 p.m., The Boyd Creek Band at 5 p.m., free barbecue and all the trimmings at 6 p.m., and Livin Proof at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs.

Independence County Republicans Meeting

BATESVILLE — The Independence County Republicans will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Citizens Bank Annex, 285 E. College St. Candidates or their representatives will address the committee regarding requests for assistance. The group will discuss manning its Independence County Fair booth, and Jerry Cox from Family Counsel will give a presentation on the proposed legalization of marijuana in Arkansas. All are invited to attend the meeting. Cookies and milk will be served.

Twelfth Night

LESLIE — Shakespeare is returning to the Ozark Heritage Arts Center in Leslie with a family-friendly one-hour adaptation of Twelfth Night by the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre at 7 p.m. Admission is $6. Adult Introductory Acting Class

SEARCY — Performing Arts Center on the Square will offer a four-week adult introductory acting class from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting this week, at Center on the Square, 219 W. Screen Printing workshop

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Arkansas Craft School will offer a Screen Printing workshop with Mountain View artist Linda Rawlings on July 8-10. Students will learn a variety of techniques that, coupled with imagination, can be used to create unique works of art. The class is open to all levels. The cost is $225, plus a $35 materials fee. Bad Boy Kids Splash & Dash

BATESVILLE — Registration is open for the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project’s fifth annual kids multisport event, the Bad Boy Splash and Dash, set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Lyon College. Kids ages 5 to 18 will swim and run to benefit the Literacy Project. Younger children are welcome to wear floaties during the swim portion of the race. After the race, participants and their families are invited to cool off on an inflatable double-lane super waterslide until noon. Bad Boy Adult Super Sprint Triathlon

BATESVILLE — Registration is open for the second annual Bad Boy Adult Super Sprint Triathlon, Batesville’s only USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, set for 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Lyon College to benefit the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project. Ages 18 and up will participate in a 150-yard pool swim, an 8.9-mile bike ride and a 1.7-mile run. Both individual athletes and relay teams of two to three athletes are welcome. The Super Sprint participation fee is $30 for relayers and $50 for individuals through Friday. Race day prices will increase to $50 and $75, respectively. Ozarka College Registration Days

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College will host registration days for new and returning students who need to complete their fall enrollment. Attendees can take placement tests, meet with an adviser, register for classes, get assistance in applying for financial aid and meet with other staff from Ozarka College. Registration days will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in Ash Flat, and from 3-7 p.m. July 19 in Melbourne. Cabot Lions Club Meetings

CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club has regular get-togethers at noon the first and third Thursdays of the month at the KingPin Sports Grill. Lions serve local communities and protect the planet. Club members provide children with eyeglasses, offer food for seniors and are among the first to respond when disaster strikes. All are invited to attend the meetings.

School-Bus Driver Training

BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will offer a training course for those who want to pursue a commercial driver’s license with a school-bus endorsement. The in-class training will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 and 13, with a written test to be taken July 14 or 15 at the Independence County Library, 368 E. Main St. The driving test will be given Aug. 2, 3 and 4. The total cost for training, materials and the driving-course test is $210. Fulton County Fair Exhibitors Day

SALEM — The Fulton County Cooperative Extension Service will offer an Exhibitors Day on July 16 at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. Dr. George Ingram, the fair veterinarian, will be at the fairgrounds from 9-10 a.m. to write health papers for exhibitors showing cattle at the fair. County extension agent Brad Runsick will be available from 8-11 a.m. to help youth with grooming show animals. Scavenger Hunts

POCAHONTAS — Join the staff at Davidsonville Historic State Park from 9-11 a.m. July 16 for a fun session of exploration and adventure. Match clues to their locations, take your own picture as proof, and learn a few things about Davidsonville along the way. Scavenger hunts will start and end at the Visitor Center, and two hunts for different age groups will be offered. Prizes will be given for the first completion, the fastest completion and for participation. Admission is free. The park is a 15-minute drive south of Pocahontas on Arkansas 166.

The Music Man

Introduction to Art

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Ozarka College in Mountain View will offer an Introduction to Art course through Continuing Education on Mondays and Wednesdays, July 18 to Aug. 3.
