A Baxter County man armed with a number of weapons such as knives and a baseball bat locked himself in a room after a fight with his wife, threatening to kill responding officers, according to authorities.

Kane Allen Gott, 44, of rural Mountain Home was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and endangering the welfare of a minor, the Baxter County sheriff's office said in a news release.

Authorities said the woman called the sheriff's office around 3 p.m. Thursday to report that her husband had injured her and had made death threats against any members of law enforcement who showed up at the house on Delicious Lane.

The woman was later found to not be injured, said criminal investigator Scott Thrasher.

A 12-year-old child was inside the home at the time, authorities said. The wife and child were able to leave the scene unharmed when the sheriff's office arrived.

At the scene, sheriff's deputies observed Gott through a window and a short time later heard the sound of glass breaking nearby, according to the news release.

"After several minutes, deputies were able to make contact with Gott," the sheriff's office said. "He resisted, and deputies used a Taser device to gain control of him."

Weapons such as knives, a dagger, a pellet gun and a baseball bat were found at the home, according to authorities.

Gott was being held at the Baxter County jail as of Friday morning in lieu of $50,000 bond, records show. A no contact order has been issued barring Gott from communicating or having contact with his wife.

He is scheduled to appear in circuit court Thursday.
