Arkansas senior defensive end Deatrich Wise earned another honor Friday when he was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list.

The trophy is awarded annually to college football’s most outstanding defensive player.

Wise (6-5, 273) has also been named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, also given to the nation’s top defensive player. In addition, he was named second-team All-SEC by Athlon and third-team All-SEC by Lindy’s and Phil Steele.

Wise is widely considered Arkansas’ top pro prospect and a potential first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had 31 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks as a junior, including seven sacks in the final four regular-season games.
