RockHounds handle struggling Travelers

A road trip that began with promise ended with another loss for the Arkansas Travelers on Monday night.

Starter Victor Alcantara had another rough start and Midland clubbed the Travs for a 7-1 victory at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas.

Bryan Anderson doubled twice, while scoring a run and driving in another as the RockHounds finished off a three-game sweep of the Travs, who were outscored 33-10 in the three-game series.

Alcantara walked 6 and gave up 3 runs over 3 innings while taking a loss for the fourth time in his last five starts. He gave up a sacrifice fly that put Midland up 1-0 in the first, before Josh Rodriguez hit an RBI single and Anderson hit a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 3-0.

The RockHounds added two more in the fourth off reliever Zach Nuding when Danny Oh singled, moved to third on a J.P. Sportman single and scored on a wild pitch. Matt Chapman then drove in Sportman with a single.

Sportman singled again in the sixth, then moved to second on a Tyler Marincov single and scored on Viosergy Rosa's single.

The Travs only run came in the fourth, when Alex Yarbrough doubled, moved to third on a Jose Briceno single and scored on a ground out.
