Arkansas woman, three youths die after van collides with train

The third minor involved in the crash has died, according to Arkansas State Police.

According to an updated crash report, the third youth was pronounced dead at a hospital in Jackson, Miss.

The death was the 281st fatality on Arkansas roads this year.

EARLIER:

A Dermott woman and two minors died when their van was hit by a train in Chicot County early Friday morning.

According to Arkansas State Police, Beverly Cater, 39, was driving a Ford Econoline van west on Masonville Road at 6:10 a.m. when she arrived at railroad tracks. The van did not yield and collided with a train, the crash report said. Cater and two youth passengers were killed.

Another youth was injured in the crash and was taken to Chicot Memorial Hospital. Per Arkansas law, the names of minors are redacted from crash reports released to the public.

Police listed road conditions as clear and dry when the wreck occurred. The deaths were the 278th, 279th and 280th of 2016 on Arkansas roads.
