Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville was the setting at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 9, for the marriage of Carolyn Haley Washburn and Jacob Christopher Rankin. The Rev. Steve Pulliam officiated.

Julia and John Cochran Washburn of Maumelle are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Virginia and Gail Owen Matthews of Maumelle and the late John and Carolyn Washburn of Little Rock.

Parents of the bridegroom are Carol and Charles Rankin of El Dorado. He is the grandson of Anna and the late James M. Rankin of Fordyce, and the late Eula Mae and Carl Davidson of El Dorado.

The altar held an arrangement of white hydrangeas and white, champagne and blush roses. Music was by organist Jonathan Story.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a lace gown with a fitted strapless bodice and trumpet-style skirt embellished at the waist with a beaded sash. She carried a bouquet of garden roses, peonies and ranunculus.

The bride's honor attendants were Hannah Leigh Washburn of Maumelle, sister of the bride, and Emilie Head Reno of Little Rock. Bridesmaids were Kelsey Smith and Kim Conner, sister of the bridegroom, both of El Dorado; Mallory Berumen of Little Rock; Kayla Palmer of Bentonville; Lauren Jones of McKinney, Texas; Cameron Van Patten of Carrollton, Texas; Gina Paradiso of New York; and Lauren Chwalinski of Maumelle. Junior bridesmaids were Annie Chapman and Mary Chapman of Pawley's Island, S.C., cousins of the bride. They wore canal-blue twist jersey dresses and carried bouquets of white, champagne and blush roses.

Flower girl and ring bearers were Kamryn Franks of Benton and Cooper Conner and Charlie Conner of El Dorado, nephews of the bridegroom.

Serving as best man was Scott Zimmerebner of Fayetteville. Groomsmen were John Lewis of Fayetteville; David Wells of Little Rock; Will Deming of New Orleans; Carter Bryant, Seth Bennett and Dave Conner, all of El Dorado; Larkin Wilson of Arlington, Va.; and Josh Smith of Denver. Guests were seated by Josh Cole of El Dorado and Jackson Ratcliff of Little Rock.

A reception at Fayetteville Town Center in the Fayetteville City Square followed the ceremony. The ballroom was filled with large arrangements of hydrangeas and roses in gold vases. Rectangular tables held long rectangle-shaped glass vases overflowing with white hydrangeas and blush, champagne and white roses. Music was by the Memphis Soul Review

The bride has a bachelor's degree in health science from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and graduated with honors from the Baptist Health School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The bridegroom has bachelor's degrees in political science and history and a master's degree in secondary education from UA. He is a history teacher and soccer coach at Springdale High School.

The couple will reside in Fayetteville after a wedding trip to Panama City, Panama.
