Humane Society Donations Campaign

BATESVILLE — The Humane Society of Independence County will continue its campaign through Tuesday to raise $10,000 in 10 days by having 1,000 people donate $10 each. The donations will be used to purchase an industrial-size washer and dryer for the shelter. Batesville Community Music

BATESVILLE — The Batesville community music group will meet from 6-8 p.m. at First Community Bank. The event will feature selections of oldies, as well as gospel, country and soft-rock tunes. All are invited to attend and sing, play, request a song or listen.

Introduction to Art

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Ozarka College in Mountain View will offer an Introduction to Art course through Continuing Education on Mondays and Wednesdays, July 18 to Aug. 3. Taught by Leah Balowski, the course will present a hands-on approach to the fundamental media, techniques and concepts of making art. Students may choose from two sessions: 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m. The tuition is $25, or $20 for participants 60 and older. Baby-sitting Basics Class

NEWPORT — The lifelong-learning department at Arkansas State University-Newport and the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Service will offer a Baby-sitting Basics class, designed for tweens and teens ages 10 to 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will learn how to properly and safely care for younger children. The Music Man

Discount Carnival Armband Tickets

SALEM — The Fulton County Fair will have a new carnival this year, Johnson Brothers Amusements of El Dorado. Advance armband tickets for the carnival rides, at $15 each, are on sale through noon July 27 and can be used at the fair from 6-10 p.m. July 28, 29 and 30. Tickets can be purchased at Shaver Plumbing and Hardware; FNBC Community Bank in Salem and Mammoth Spring; the Bank of Salem in Salem, Mammoth Spring and Viola; the North Arkansas Electric Cooperative; Hill’s Auto Sales; and the Fulton County Fair Office at the fairgrounds. Armbands purchased at the fair will cost $20.

Magnificat Luncheon

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Tickets are available for the next Magnificat Luncheon, sponsored by the Mary Ark of the Covenant Chapter of Magnificat International, set for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 6 in the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Hall. The speaker will be Gail Herbert of Springfield, Missouri. Herbert is a wife and the mother of two boys, and works as a case manager at Rare Breed, a housing program for homeless youth. Ozarka College-Ash Flat EMT Program

ASH FLAT — Ozarka College in Ash Flat will begin offering courses for its Emergency Medical Technician Program in the fall semester. Classes will meet from 5-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Aug. 16. Additional clinical hours will be required. The instructor will be Andy Schisler, longtime employee and paramedic for Spring River Ambulance of Cherokee Village. Cabot Lions Club Meetings

CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club has regular get-togethers at noon the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Kingpin Sports Grill. Lions serve local communities and protect the planet. Club members provide children with eyeglasses, offer food for seniors and are among the first to respond when disaster strikes. All are invited to attend the meetings.

Fulton County Fair Horse Show

SALEM — The Shaver Plumbing and Hardware Fulton County Fair Horse Show will take place at 6 p.m. July 26 in the Clayton-Plumlee-Walling Arena at the fairgrounds. The show will feature halter classes, showmanship at halter, western pleasure, lead-line class for youth ages 5 and younger, trail classes, barrel racing and pole bending. Haphazardly Ever After

A Day of Caring

SEARCY — Unity Health will offer the 20th annual A Day of Caring from 9 a.m. to noon July 30 in a new location. Because of building construction at Harding University, the day of medical mission will be held at Harding Academy High School, 1529 E. Park Ave. Free medical, dental and eye screenings will be provided, as well as haircuts, immunizations and Pap exams. Items such as school supplies, Bibles, children’s socks and shoes, underwear, diapers, bags of groceries and personal-care products will be distributed, and social-service information will be provided. International Church Planters Missions Conference

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Arkansas Craft School will offer Book Arts and Printmaking with Mountain View artist Linda Rawlings on Aug. 5-7.
