Man tries to rob Entergy workers restoring power in Little Rock, police say

Little Rock police say a suspect remains at large after two Entergy Arkansas employees were held at gunpoint while working in the city’s south side on Saturday afternoon.

The employees — a 29-year-old man from Lonoke and a 22-year-old man from Jacksonville — were inside an Entergy truck at 4:17 p.m. in the 8700 block of Verbena Drive when a man walked in front of the vehicle and knocked on a window before showing a handgun, according to a report.

At that point, the workers drove away from the scene, police said. Neither employee was injured, and the man wasn't able to leave with any items.

The attempted robbery was reported during a weekend in which agencies from multiple states assisted in restoring power to thousands of Arkansans affected by strong storms Thursday evening. By Monday, the lights were almost completely back on in central Arkansas, Arkansas Online previously reported.

Entergy spokesman Sally Graham said in a statement that the utility company is working closely with the Little Rock Police Department regarding the investigation.

“Our employees are trained in a number of areas, including appropriate safety protocols and how to act when faced with potentially threatening situations,” Graham said.

The robber was described by authorities as a black man between the ages of 20 and 25 who stands about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds.

Anyone with information about the attempted robbery is asked to call the Little Rock Police Department at (501) 371-4830.
