A former spokesman for two Republican presidential contenders in the 2016 race, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, has joined CNN as a political commentator.

Alice Stewart, who has also previously worked as a Little Rock media personality, announced the move shortly before noon Tuesday on her Twitter account.

“Thrilled to join the great @CNNPolitics team in Wash. DC.,” Stewart’s tweet read in part.

Stewart most recently served as a spokesman for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s bid for the White House earlier this year.

Cruz, who suspended his campaign in May, was the last Republican candidate to drop out of the race, leaving businessman Donald Trump as the party’s presumptive nominee.

She left the Huckabee campaign in December at a time when the former governor’s campaign funding was dwindling, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported. Huckabee suspended his campaign Feb. 1.
