Hutchinson to lead governors' committee on homeland security

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has been named chairman of the National Governors Association's Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee.

The committee handles issues dealing with homeland security, the National Guard, criminal justice, public safety and veterans affairs. Hutchinson, who previously worked in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said he looks forward to leading the committee.

Hutchinson is also scheduled to speak Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
