One person was injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Summit Street, Little Rock police said.

A 29-year-old man was in stable condition Wednesday night after being shot multiple times on South Summit Street, blocks away from Little Rock Central High School, police said.

The victim drove himself to UAMS Medical Center and was in surgery as of Wednesday night, said Lt. Steve McClanahan, spokesman with the Little Rock Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the hospital a little before 6 p.m. and later found the crime scene in the 1800 block of South Summit Street, he said. The shooting occurred outside the house at 1802 S. Summit St., McClanahan said.

Police did not have any information on suspects or a verified motive as of Wednesday night, McClanahan said. He said it was still unclear whether the victim was shot inside or outside the vehicle.

He said police investigating the shooting had received little help from witnesses as of Wednesday night.

"In a situation like this, where we're not able to talk to the victim, we really need witnesses to come forward," McClanahan said.
