While the entire state of Arkansas is under a heat advisory, five of its most central counties were placed under an excessive heat warning by the National Weather Service on Saturday morning.
At 11:37 a.m., the weather service said the warning for Faulkner, Lonoke, Pulaski, Saline and White counties would last until 9 p.m. Saturday.
Heat indices will reach or exceed 110 degrees in the afternoon, the weather service said, increasing the likelihood of heat illnesses. The weather service advised staying inside and drinking plenty of liquids.
The heat advisory for the five counties will stick around until 9 p.m. Sunday.
