Jail records originally showed that Brian David Post was accused of capital murder. Those records were later updated to reflect that Post is accused of attempted murder.

A Washington County man was being held Saturday in the Benton County jail in connection with capital murder, according to Benton County jail records.

Brian David Post, 48, of Springdale also faces charges of rape and kidnapping, both felonies.

The Benton County sheriff's office said it would announce more about the arrest in a press release either today or Sunday.

A preliminary arrest report for Post has been sealed by Circuit Judge Doug Schrantz, according to Dept. Keshia Guyll, a sheriff's office spokesman.

Capital murder, rape and kidnapping are all Class Y felonies in Arkansas. Class Y felonies are the most serious crimes in the state not punishable by death and carry a minimum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 40 years, according to Arkansas Code 5-4-401.

Post is being held without bond and is set to appear in court on Aug. 29.
