Man gets 15 years on two sex counts

Underage girls sought in online posts

When Eddie Paul Davis arrived at Faulkner County Circuit Court for a hearing in March on a rape conspiracy charge, sheriff's deputies took advantage of his presence in the county and arrested him on a second charge of Internet stalking of a child.

Davis, 45, of Pocola, Okla., was sentenced last week to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to 15 years for conspiracy to commit rape and 10 years for Internet stalking of a child, with the sentences to run concurrently.

According to court records, Davis had been arrested in December on the rape conspiracy charge. An affidavit by an investigating deputy said he was posing as a minor girl on the Internet when he ran across an ad from a person looking for a minor girl to have sex with.

The person boasted of having had sex with underage girls previously.

The deputy exchanged messages with Davis for about two weeks, after which they made arrangements to meet in Conway, where Davis proposed to follow the minor to her home for sex. He was arrested when he showed up at the prearranged meeting place.

According to the deputy's affidavit, Davis admitted under questioning that he was trying to meet minor girls but said the purpose was to have a father figure-type relationship and not a sexual relationship. When confronted with the emails boasting of his prior sexual experience with underage girls, he said he did not remember sending them.

He was released from the Faulkner County jail Dec. 14, three days after his arrest, after posting a $75,000 bond, according to court records.

In late February, the deputy was working again on the Internet using two other minor girl identities when he saw an ad seeking minor females that was similar to the one Davis had posted prior to his initial arrest. The deputy started exchanging emails with the person and photos the person sent showed it was Davis.

Davis was scheduled to appear March 21 in circuit court in Conway for a hearing on the conspiracy to commit rape charge. Upon his arrival, deputies arrested him on the Internet stalking of a minor charge and took him to jail after his court hearing.

According to the affidavit, Davis told deputies he was not the person who solicited the minor girls because he no longer had a computer to get online.

His live-in girlfriend told deputies that Davis had a computer but there was no Internet access at their home. He hooked up a Wi-Fi antenna to use a neighbor's Wi-Fi signal for access to the Internet, the affidavit said.
