Woman's remains sent to Crime Lab

Authorities are investigating after a woman's body was discovered Thursday evening in a wooded area of Clark County, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Sheriff Jason Watson said his office was notified about 5:30 p.m. The Clark County sheriff's office and Arkansas State Police are investigating.

Investigators have yet to identify the woman, and her body has been taken to the state Crime Laboratory, the release said. She is described as a black woman between 20 and 30 years old.

The release didn't indicate the location where the body was found. It was described as a "remote wooded area."

Diana Barnes, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said more details would be released later.

Anyone with any information that could aid the investigation is asked to call the sheriff's office at (870) 246-2222.
